Saturday, April 21 - The Corsicana Derrick days 1k/5k race, presented by the Corsicana Lions Club, starts at 9 am. For as little as $100, businesses or individuals can have their name on the shirts, for $250 you get your name and logo and $500 gets you a large ad on over 250 shirts that are worn by runners and people throughout the year. 100% of all money raised from the race goes to local Navarro County charities. Wednesday, May 2 through Saturday, May 5 - Petty's Chapel Baptist Church will be celebrating 125 years of ministry with a Revival beginning May 2nd through May 4th, at 7 pm nightly, with guest speaker Evangelist Alton Ray from Burleson. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come. The Saturday May 5th Celebration will be from 2- 8 pm. This is a Free Event, and everyone is welcome. There will be various individual singers on the outside stage beginning at 2 pm with special guests Martin Jenkins and The Unity Heirs. The indoor worship in song and praise begins at 3:45 pm in our sanctuary with Pat Haba and features special guests Eternal River Band, Saint Luke Choir, and will be followed by a Historical Presentation. Friday, May 4 - Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, a non-profit that advocates for small-scale farmers and ranchers, cottage food producers, beekeepers and other local food producers, will make a stop in Hillsboro during its "Raise Your Voice" tour of Texas. Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Honor Flight DFW pays for the cost for the veteran and all others pay their own expenses. For more information about this organization and flight schedules, go to their website www.honorflightdfw.org. This is one way for us to honor our veterans while we still have them around.
