Volunteer Fire Departments are always in need of bottled water, but especially now with the very hot temperatures. Please donate some if you can. Also, if you have a refrigerator you don't need, please consider donating it to your local Volunteer Fire Department. They can use it!
RED is more than just a color on Fridays. In fact, it stands for "Remember Everyone Deployed", meaning the color red is a reminder for you to take the time every Friday to remember our troops. Please support our military servicemen by wearing a red shirt on Fridays!
The Navarro County Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 7 am until noon This is a seasonal open air market located at 408 E. Sixth Avenue at Business 45 between East Collin Street and East Sixth Avenue in Corsicana near the Corsicana Daily Sun building. They sell vegetables, fruits, fresh yard eggs, honey, jams, jellies, herbs, plants, baked goods, and much more. Please support our local farmers!
Catholic Charities of Dallas Mobile Truck will be distributing food in Corsicana every 2nd Wednesday of the month at Greater Wilgo Missionary Baptist Church, 621 East 1st Ave Corsicana 12 to 3pm. A one-time registration is required. Drive up & they will load your vehicle. They need volunteers to assist with food distribution.
The Carter Blood Truck will be at 4311 W. Hwy. 22 CORSICANA from 9 am to 3 pm today. There's another blood drive at Navarro Regional Hospital today in the parking lot on the Carter Bloodcare Bus from 9 am to 3 pm.

Friday, August 26 through Sunday, August 28 - Corsicana's 2nd Annual Hydroplane Boat Racing Competition at Lake Halbert, 1600 Lake Halbert Road. The National Boat Racing Association (NBRA) Short Course National Championship Event is free to the public. Each day the race begins at 12 pm and ends at 5 pm.

Saturday, October 8 - 23rd Annual Coyote Squadron Corsicana Airsho, "The best little airshow in Texas", at Corsicana Municipal Airport. Activities begin at 8:30 am. Presented by the Commemorative Air Force Coyote Squadron. This year's Airsho is dedicated to the memory of Col. Candis Wells. She was a long-time supporter and active member of the Coyote Squadron as the Financial Officer and Co-Chair of the Airsho. She will live forever in our hearts. Admission is $10 per person or $20 per carload. Free admission to active Military and Veterans.
Saturday, Oct. 15 - The 18th Annual Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival. Visit the red brick streets in downtown Kerens for food vendors, arts & crafts, a photo contest, a quilt show, a car show, a pie contest, a chili cookoff, an antique tractor show, and live entertainment. All festival proceeds go to Friends of the Kerens Library.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to our senior neighbors, stop and enjoy a short friendly visit, and observe to ensure the senior is doing well. Most routes take less than an hour. You choose how often you volunteer: once a week, a month, or just on occasion. Food Truck Friday is held on the first Friday of every month from April through September. Food and drink vendors from all over converge on downtown Corsicana. HOPE TO GO FOOD PANTRY, a partner agency of the North Texas Food Bank, is now in operation. Navarro County residents may receive free food in emergency situations without qualifying based on income. Compassion Corsicana is located at 517 N Commerce Street, across from Salvation Army. They offer nutritious food to residents who meet the income requirements. They partner with the North Texas Food Bank and several local stores and community members to provide nutritious food for those in need. Residents may visit the pantry once per month for groceries, and weekly for produce. All you need is an ID or bill showing you live in Navarro Co. If you have an unserviceable US, state, M.I.A., or military flag, bring it to the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton St. If the post is closed, you can place the flag in a plastic bag and hang it on the front door. After 2 pm daily, bring it inside. If you can not afford a new US flag, the American Legion will replace your unserviceable US flag with a new US Flag. Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Just bring those old phones by their office on Bus. 45 across from the old hat factory any morning from 9-11 M-F or drop them off at Corley Funeral Home. The phones will be bundled and forwarded them to a company that refurbishes them and sends then to the troops to use.
